As they paddled around, the mother duck kept a watchful eye on her little ones, making sure they were safe. But soon, a fierce storm rolled in, with thunder and lightning that frightened the ducklings. The mother duck gathered her ducklings close and paddled to the safety of the shore.
As they huddled together under a bush, the mother duck comforted her trembling ducklings with a gentle quack, and soon they all fell asleep. The golden duck was very proud of her shiny feathers, and she spent all her days admiring herself in the lake’s clear waters. She would often call out to her animal friends and boast about how beautiful she was.
One day, a group of travellers came to the palace and asked the golden duck if they could stay the night. The golden duck, who was very proud and arrogant, refused, saying she only wanted to be around those as beautiful as herself. The travellers were disappointed but decided to continue on their journey.
As the days passed, the golden duck’s feathers began to lose their shine, and she was no longer the most beautiful duck in the palace. She began to feel lonely and regretful for her actions, wishing she had been kinder to the travellers.
